Version 1.0 to 1.5 Mourning!

Tue, 09/02/2014 - 13:57 -- Jne310

Let me personally say that I love Version 1.5 and I think that they have done a great job with the transition (PHAB)....however, our staff are kind of in mourning due to a lot of the requirements in Version 1.5. We are looking for ways to energize our team, as we are having a lull in our progress here for several reasons. Any tips of rotating people ever so many years for accreditation cycles?

Good question! We are going through something similar. The new format is great, but the new requirements aren't. We've had some staff turnover so that has helped with keeping the team fresh, but rotating some members is a great idea. This will help in getting more staff involved and hopefully will generate some new ideas as well.

Thanks cbrown! I do like Version 1.5 for many reasons but there is an element of stepping up the requirements that some are taking shock to! I only see it as progress to work towards. We know PHAB doesn't expect us to be 100%, and it's all part of the bigger QI cycle. I like it bc it only seems to push us forward in ways that we didn't think of before and overall make us a better functioning HD. It is tough though-esp. with staff turnover! Sometimes it feels like we are spinning our wheels.

I agree with the idea of a rotation so that you don't burn out the same group of people. We are about 18 months post accreditation and looking toward re-accreditation in 2018. Some changes have been made to the team by retirements or resignations so that brings new members to the group. I think it's important to acknowledge the mourning of the old version but also to encourage your team to move forward. Each day a new beginning!
