Upcoming Webinar: Tips for Being a Successful PHAB Applicant

Wednesday, July 23, 2014 - The National Network of Public Health Institutes is hosting a Public Health Improvement Webinar with Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) Accreditation Specialists Jennifer Jimenez and Marita Chilton on Tuesday, August 12th, from 2:00-3:00 pm ET. A health department's documentation is a critical component for informing the accreditation decision and should be thoughtfully prepared. How to assess, select, and prepare documentation is a skill that everyone involved in the accreditation process will use. Participants will sharpen their abilities through an interactive webinar and hear tips from PHAB Accreditation Specialists about preparing the selected documentation for upload in e-PHAB. The first 250 participants will be able to join the live webinar. This webinar will be recorded and made available. Register for the webinar here!

Tips for Recruiting QI Champions

Thursday, July 3, 2014 - Leadership buy-in is critical to quality improvement work. The National Institute for Children’s Health Care Quality recently published three key tips for recruiting physician champions for improvement projects; these tips apply to recruiting champions for public health QI projects too! The three tips for successful champion recruitment include:

  1. Find someone who has a passion for the topic of your improvement work.
  2. Be honest and realistic about the time commitment.
  3. Find an affable and open-minded recruiter.

New QI Video Highlights Phoenix, Arizona!

Friday, May 30, 2014 - The Arizona Department of Health Services implemented a QI initiative to develop a single standardized home health and safety assessment tool. The "Healthy @ Home" assessment tool integrates environmental health and chronic disease resources and referral protocols to maximize the efficiency of state-funded home visiting programs.
